By Darnell C. Ragland, QBSN Staff Writer
Quinnipiac field hockey forward Kristin Engelke (Melford, N.J.) has earned this week’s athlete of the week honors with her stellar weekend versus fifth ranked Syracuse and La Salle.
She led the Bobcats with their only goal in the 5-1 loss against Syracuse at the Asics Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 31. The goal was Engelke’s 14th of her career, making her tied for 17th on Quinnipiac’s all-time scoring list.
Engelke had another big game on Sunday, Sept. 1, against La Salle. She scored the game-winning goal against the Explorers while adding an assist on another goal in the 6-4 win.
Engelke has started off the season strong, averaging two goals and one assist this past weekend. She and the Bobcats get back into action Thursday, Sept. 5 to take on 15th ranked Boston College at 7 p.m. in Newton, Mass.
