Athlete of the Week: Jess Rusin
Field hockey senior Jess Rusin (Garwood, N.J.) is this week’s Athlete of the Week for breaking the all-time Quinnipiac goals record Sunday afternoon. Rusin scored her 32nd career goal in the second half and also added an assist to help the Bobcats defeat the Pioneers of Sacred Heart, 4-1.
Rusin’s goal surpassed the 11-year mark set by Heather Cady in 2002.
“I’m happy,” Rusin said of the milestone goal. “Now we can focus on winning the MAAC.”
With the goal and assist Sunday, Rusin stands only three points away from breaking Cady’s all time points record of 80. The field hockey team returns to the field Friday at home against Robert Morris.
