Athlete of the Week: Jasmine Martin
Junior guard Jasmine Martin (Sicklerville, N.J.) has earned this week’s Athlete of the Week honors for her performance against North Carolina A&T on Friday, Nov. 8 in the Preseason WNIT Tournament.
Martin did not miss a single shot from the field, except for one free throw shot. She shot 3-for-4 from the free-throw line. She had 22 points, shooting a perfect 7-for-7 from the field and a perfect 5-for-5 from 3-point range in 22 minutes of play. She led the Bobcats to defeat North Carolina A&T in a final score of 77 to 63.
Martin has been a major asset to the team to start the season. She is averaging 16 points and shooting 57 percent from the field while shooting 56 percent from the 3-point line.
The Bobcats had a tough lost against a powerhouse fifth-ranked Louisville team, losing 82 to 100 on Monday, Nov 11 in the preseason WNIT Tournament. Martin and the Bobcats will look to bounce back when they take on Tenn.-Martin at Skyhawk Arena in Round 3 of the Preseason WNIT Consolation Game on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m.
