Freshmen Krissy Unger (New York, NY) and Jenn Whaley (Avon, CT) made a great impression in their first ever tournament as Quinnipiac Bobcats at the Tignanelli Towson Invitational at the Towson Golf and Country Club in Phoenix, Md.
Unger set the record for the lowest tournament score in Quinnipiac Women’s Golf history after shooting a 163 (82-81) over the 2-day tournament. Whaley was not far behind with the second lowest score in program history, checking in with a 164 (81-83).
The young Bobcats weren’t done there, also setting the team record for lowest single round score by a freshman at 81.
Quinnipiac finished the tournament tied for 14th in the 18 team field, but the future certainly is bright as Unger and Whaley gain experience in the fall season.
“They are serious golfers with a legitimate chance of being all-conference, and if they want to they could pursue a career in golf,” said Head Coach John O’Connor.
Unger and Whaley, along with the rest of the team, will head to Hanover, N.H. this weekend as Quinnipiac is set to compete in the Dartmouth Invitational at the Hanover Country Club on September 15th and 16th.
