The Bobcats fell to the Hawks of Monmouth University by a score of 3-0. With the loss Quinnipiac falls to 8-5 and 1-1 in the conference, while Monmouth improves to 3-11 and 1-1 in the conference.
Despite being out played in the first half and not recording a shot, Quinnipiac only trailed 1-0 heading into half time. Alex Carroll beat Nicole Lewis high in the 14th minute to score the only goal of the first half.
Monmouth added two more goals in the second half, one by Kimmy Baligian and the other by Tara Brow to complete the 3-0 win.
Quinnipiac only managed one shot on goal through the entire game and four penalty corners. The Bobcats, being a team that scores most of its goals on corners, failed to mount any serious offensive threat through out the game.
The one bright spot of the game was Lewis, who stopped nine of the 12 Monmouth shots that were sent her way. Lewis was able to keep the Bobcats within striking distance until Monmouth scored their third goal.
The Bobcats will return to action this Sunday, Oct. 14, when they host defending NEC Champions Rider at noon in Hamden.
