Quinnipiac women’s lacrosse senior Sarah Allen added another program record to her already illustrious career in Sunday’s 13-7 win over Wagner. Her assist with four minutes remaining in the game broke Katie Latonick’s record of 175 career points.
The record-breaking assist was Allen’s 13th point in two games on the weekend as the senior tallied four goals and five assists on Friday afternoon against LIU-Brooklyn and followed up that performance with a goal and three assists against the Seahawks.
Quinnipiac did not trail in either game on the weekend, and Allen had much to do with that as she picked up nine of her 13 points in respective first halves.
Late in the first half against LIU, Allen showed off both her scoring and passing touch in a span of 55 seconds. Off a turnover, junior Phoebe Laplante picked up a ground ball at midfield and found Allen streaking towards the middle of the offensive zone where Allen moved in and finished the breakaway with a perfectly placed shot.
Less than a minute later, in a very similar play, Allen assumed the role of passer and set up Lianne Toomey on a breakaway of her own, which she capitalized on and put the Bobcats ahead 10-4.
With four games remaining in the regular season and potentially three or more in the postseason, Allen will look to lead the Bobcats back to NEC glory and add to the career points record that is now hers.
