The Bobcats’ men’s ice hockey senior goaltender Eric Hartzell has been named this week’s Quinnipiac Bobcats Sports Network Athlete of the Week.
Hartzell stopped 33 of 34 shots against St. Cloud State in the NCAA Frozen Four semi-final. In the championship game, Hartzell made 27 saves against Yale.
Barely a day after the Frozen Four ended, the Bobcat netminder signed an entry-level professional contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League. Hartzell is on the roster as the third goalie.
Though it has been reported he most likely will not see playing time in the remainder of the regular season and is ineligible for the playoffs, he will stay with the team and practice with them.
