This week’s Athlete of the Week honors are awarded to Nicole Scola (Westerly, R.I.) of the women’s golf team. From the moment she stepped onto the links, Scola has made an impact and etched her name into the Quinnipiac record books — after only three tournaments and seven rounds.
Two weeks ago, at the Yale Invitational, Scola shot a round one 73, followed by a 76 in round two; both were Top-10 scores. She carded an 80 in Sunday’s final round. Her three-day score of 229 is the best 54-hole score in program history and beats the previous record by 10 strokes, according to Quinnipiac sports information.
At the Towson Invitational in Maryland, Scola’s two-day total of 154 (79-75) was the second best 36-hole score. Most notably, Scola shot the lowest round in program history at the Dartmouth Invitational, with a one-under-par 70, for the first under-par round all-time at Quinnipiac.
