Emma Ogden and Katie Urycki both filled the stat sheets this week, but they also brought a special energy to the floor. The two freshmen helped guide their team in the right direction, and provided a positive vibe for their team with their confidence and energy. Due to three stellar performances, they share this week’s Athlete of the Week honors.
Emma Ogden has already showed that she can compete at a high level since she was voted MAAC Player of the Week earlier this season. Ogden continued her impressive play this week, averaging 9.58 assists, 1.58 digs, 0.33 kills and 0.42 service aces per set, while also grabbing her third double double of the season.
The freshman setter chalked up a career-high 47 assists and 7 total blocks against Rider to go along with 5 digs. She followed up the Rider game with a double-double performance against Saint Peter’s, tallying 36 assists and 14 digs. She added to her string of strong outings by posting 32 assists and three service aces against Siena on Wednesday.
Katie Urycki also put up some remarkable numbers in the Bobcats’ three games this week. She was able to average 2.75 kills, 1.92 digs and 3.25 points per set. Like Ogden, Urycki posted a double double against Saint Peter’s, her second of the season.
Her box score against Rider shows a total of six kills and seven digs, which set her up for an outstanding performance against Saint Peter’s, where she led all players with a career-high 17 kills. She also added 11 digs, two block assists and three service aces to her record. She capped off her week with 10 kills and five digs against Siena, which is currently tied for the lead in the MAAC.
This marks Urycki’s first time and Ogden’s second time being named Athlete of the Week.
