The Quinnipiac Bobcats take on the Yale Bulldogs in the championship game of the Nutmeg Classic Saturday afternoon after defeating RIT on Friday. These ECAC and cross-town rivals faced off earlier in the year at Yale but tied 0-0.
Keys for Quinnipiac:
- Get more shots on goal. The Bobcats got 29 shots on goal in the game against the RIT Tigers but they tend to get more in past games.
- Spread the scoring out slowly. Other Bobcats are scoring, taking the dependence off of Shiann Darkangelo and Kelly Babstock (despite Darkangelo scoring three goals and two assists and Babstock scoring one goal and four assists against RIT). Morgan Fritz-Ward scored two goals on Friday and also had the game winning goal against UNH two weeks ago.
Keys for Yale:
- Shut down the first line. Kelly Babstock and Shiann Darkangelo have accounted for nine of the Bobcats’ last 15 goals. If they cannot score, the other lines have to step up in the goal scoring column and that has not happened much as of late.
- Get many shots on goal. Whether Chelsea Laden is in goal or it is Sydney Rossman, it all comes down to shots. Throwing the puck at the net could make anything happen, let alone actually setting up and looking for an opening.
