Honors for this week’s Athlete of the Week goes to Ousmane Drame. The junior forward led the men’s basketball team to a 2-0 week, with big wins over Rider and Marist at Lender Court. The two victories improve the Bobcats record to 10-4 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play.
On Saturday, Feb. 8, the Bobcats defeated the Rider Broncs, 82-61. Drame was a very efficient 4/6 from the field, tallying nine points, nine rebounds and a game-high four blocks in 29 minutes. Then on Monday, Feb. 10, the Bobcats had a tough matchup against the Red Foxes. Both teams went back and forth, but Quinnipiac pulled away late to secure a five point victory. Drame again was extremely solid, scoring 16 points, corralling 13 rebounds, and blocking seven Marist shots. He was excellent from the field in both games, shooting 64.7 percent during the week.
Drame has been an integral piece to the Bobcats this season. When he scores 13 points or more this season, the Bobcats are 9-3, and when he blocks three shots or more, Quinnipiac is 9-0.
Drame and the Bobcats return to action on Thursday night as they take on the Fairfield Stags at 8:30 p.m. Quinnipiac is back in action at the TD Bank Sports Center on Sunday against St. Peters University. Tip off is set for 4 p.m.
