The women’s golf team finished the two-day Quinnipiac Classic tournament at New Haven Country Club fourth out of 11 teams. Junior Nicole Scola tied for fifth place among all golfers with a score of 231, the best of the Bobcats.
The University at Albany won the tournament with a combined team score of 927 over three rounds. Quinnipiac had two teams competing, the “Blue” team and the “Gold” team. The Gold team, comprised of Scola, freshman Luciana Tobia, freshman Julia Kemmling, freshman Abby Chase, and senior Taylor Lambrou, placed fourth out of 11, while the Blue team, comprised of junior Emily Ribbins, freshman Caitlan Blydenburgh, senior captain Jennifer Whaley, senior Alexa Gentile, and sophomore Devan McCarrie, placed 10th out of 11 teams. Robbins led the Blue squad with a score of 242.
The Gold team’s score of 943 was the best 54-hole team score in Bobcat history, beating the the 958 the team shot in last season’s Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship tournament. The Bobcats had three players place in the top 20.
The team competes again on Oct. 18, when they head to Delaware for the Delaware State Invitational.
