In a non-conference matchup the Quinnipiac Bobcats women’s volleyball team fell to the University of Hartford Hawks in four sets (25-22), (19-25), (21- 25), (22-25).
After winning the first set the Bobcat’s went on to lose three straight sets to the Hawks.
“[In the last three sets] we played tentative, we got away from what we did in practice and our game plan that we do in conference play, which we wanted to bring in to our non-conference game,” head coach Kris Czaplinski said. “We took them for granted and at the Division I level you can’t take anyone for granted.”
Despite losing the final three sets there were positives Czaplinski took away from the first set and match as a whole.
“The first game we won I thought we stuck to the game plan and focused on our fundamentals and focused on offense” Czaplinski said. “We were pretty aggressive and loose, we were having fun.”
Czaplinski also acknowledged that this was the best passing game they have had all year. This week in practice Czaplinski said the focus would be on having fun, playing loose and the fundamentals.
“We stress too much on the importance of winning right now, we don’t follow the process,” Czaplinski said. “We have a lot of young kids that are starting on the court right now so we are going to keep drilling in the fundamentals, and you know if you’re not having fun playing this game you’re doing something wrong. So we’re going to continue to do that and the wins will come.”
The Bobcats only have four games left on the season. Their next match is away at Saint Peter’s which is followed by two home games to close out the season against Iona and Manhattan.
