Quinnipiac won over inner Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference rival Niagara this afternoon 82-68. This was the final regular season matchup between both schools and now they split their season series with one win apiece.
Quinnipiac senior guard Giovanni McLean and junior guard Daniel Harris shot for a combined 9-for-12 from the three-point line as the team shot 12-for-17 in the game. After a tough first half scoring the ball for the Bobcats, Niagara took control of the game early. With Niagara playing tough defense inside Quinnipiac began looking for shots out on the perimeter. The Bobcats started creating good shot opportunities from outside which led to an 11-0 run to finish the first half as they led by eight at the half.
Quinnipiac carried their late first half momentum into the second half as they continued their hot streak from three. They would continue their dominance until midway through the second half when Niagara made a comeback led by freshman Marvin Prochet and sophomore Matt Scott. After leading by 16, Niagara came back to within four points. Then Quinnipiac would continue their first half trend and continued to hit shots from the perimeter to pull away late in the game. After the loss, Niagara falls to 6-17 overall and 4-8 within the MAAC. Quinnipiac advances to 6-13 on the season and 3-7 in the MAAC.
