Former Quinnipiac men’s ice hockey forward Sam Anas will forgo his senior season to sign a two-year entry-level contract with the Minnesota Wild, according to a press release from the Wild.
The Bobcats’ leading goal-scorer spent time at NHL minicamps and development camps with the Washington Capitals, Montreal Canadiens and New York Islanders over the past few summers.
Anas led Quinnipiac in scoring in his freshman, sophomore and junior season.
This season, Anas tallied 24 goals and a total of 50 points.
Some of Anas’ accolades include the 2014 USCHO.com National Rookie of the Year, the 2014 College Hockey News National Rookie of the Year, and the 2014 NCAA Rookie of the Year (Tim Taylor Award).
In the 2014-15 season, Anas was named to the AHCA/CCM Hockey All-American Second Team. This season, the Potomac, Maryland native was named to the AHCA/CCM Hockey All-American First Team.
Anas finishes his career at Quinnipiac with 69 goals and 63 assists for 132 total points.
