The Connecticut Whale of the National Women’s Hockey League have signed former Quinnipiac goaltender Sydney Rossman to a one year contract, the NWHL announced Monday morning.
The Whale drafted Rossman with the 19th overall pick in the 2016 NWHL Draft. The senior was the second goalie taken.
Rossman was the ECAC Goalie of the Year in 2015-2016, her draft year, and was a finalist for ECAC Player of the Year. She posted a 0.90 goals against average that season to go along with a .933 save percentage as she guided the Bobcats to their first ever ECAC Championship.
Her senior season in 2016-2017, Rossman posted a 1.45 goals against average and a .929 save percentage. Both numbers were her worst since her sophomore year in high school, although still very strong overall behind a young blue line.
Rossman will head to a Whale team that underachieved between the pipes during the 2016-2017 season. Connecticut was the only team in the NWHL with a goals against average over four (4.17) and a save percentage under .890 for the season (.857).
