In the game of soccer, momentum is a huge factor on what the outcome of a game is. With the Quinnipiac men’s soccer team (0-2-0) finally playing at the new turf complex on Saturday against St. Joseph’s (1-0-1), momentum is how the Bobcats will gain their first win.
What to Expect
– This is the first game that the men’s soccer team is playing at the new complex. Bobcat nation will be out there to support their team, so expect a large crowd.
– This season, Quinnipiac has yet to score three goals in a game and St. Joseph’s only scored three goals once. This game will be a defensive battle, so if you are a fan of fundamental soccer, this will be a game to watch. Expect both teams to score three goals or less.
– The Bobcats have yet to score a goal this season. Hopefully, the momentum of the new turf will bring them to score their first one. For the Hawks, Matt Crawford is the man with all of the goals so far. He can continue his reign on a Quinnipiac team that has not won a game this year. Expect the Bobcats to finally score a goal, and expect Matt Crawford of St. Joseph’s to score as well.
Keys to the Game
Quinnipiac Bobcats
– This is the first game on the new turf for this team, which could lead to a major boost in motivation for this squad. Especially if the game is tight towards the end, the momentum of the crowd will certainly help this team.
– The Bobcats need to have strong passing. Getting balls through the defense will lead to more offensive chances and, hopefully, a couple a goals.
– Take advantage of the corner kicks. The Hawks have given up a total of 13 corner kicks this year, a high for only three games. If the Bobcats can take advantage of the corners, there will be even more offensive opportunities for a team that has yet to score a goal.
St. Joseph’s Hawks
– Keep the Quinnipiac offense off balance with pressure from the defensive back lines. A team with no wins is self-conscious about their offense. The more pressure you put on them and the more the defense forces them to make mistakes, the Bobcats will become frustrated.
– Matt Crawford needs to keep producing offensively in order for the Hawks to keep winning. Crawford has scored all four of St. Joseph’s goals this year. If the team wants to keep competing, he obviously needs to keep up the goal scoring.
The game will kick off at 2 pm on the new turf complex at Quinnipiac University. Follow @QBSN on Twitter for the link to the broadcast.
