The Quinnipiac men’s hockey team (6-8-1 overall, 3-5-0 ECAC Hockey) play host to the Dartmouth Big Green (2-6-0, 2-4-0 ECAC Hockey) for the second half of a back to back weekend series that saw the Harvard Crimson come to town on Friday.
The Bobcats are coming in off of an offensive showcase on Tuesday against Princeton, winning 6-2 at Hobey Baker Memorial Rink and a 6-2 loss to Harvard last night. The Bobcats are led on offense by sophomore winger Alex Whelan, who leads the team in goals with six, and freshman Odeen Tufto, who averages a point per game with 15 points in 15 games. While Tufto has not scored a goal since a late October road trip to Northeastern, he has displayed some pretty passing over the last five games where he has racked up five assists. The Bobcats need to get to those high scoring areas and try screen Buffalo as much as possible. Buffalo has been very vulnerable to deflections and second chance opportunities. Quinnipiac leads the ECAC in shots per game with 34.3, but only average 2.79 goals per game, which leaves them with a 8.1 shot percentage.
The Dartmouth Big Green have seen their struggles over the month of November, going 2-3-0 picking up wins against Yale and Brown, and losses to Cornell, Colgate and Vermont. The Big Green have not won since beating Yale in early November. The struggles have been in net this season for the Big Green as their starting goalie Devin Buffalo, has a goals against average of 3.56 and a save percentage of .874, both ranking last out of all starting goalies in the ECAC. Dartmouth has only seen seven different players find the back of the net this season. Captain Kevin Kilistoff and Daniel Warpecha lead the team in goals with three a piece, and Kilistoff leads the team in points with six.
Tune into the matchup between Quinnipiac and Dartmouth tonight at 7 p.m. at the Frank Perrotti, Jr. Arena in Hamden, Connecticut. Tom Krosnowski and Steven Pappas will be on the call for @QBSN.
