Unlike other teams in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Quinnipiac is able to play 10 players but in blowout wins like today’s 83-44 win over Monmouth Quinnipiac can play everybody. Not only did every player play for the Bobcats but every player scored for them too.
Some teams struggle to play seven players but Quinnipiac can play ten players. Katie Grant and Danelle Bradley are the two players who miss their team’s ten-player rotation. Although Grant and Bradley do not see the floor often, they still work as hard as their other teammates. Grant and Bradley have combined to play 108 minutes this season.
“What was really exceptional today was the enthusiasm that you had with Danelle Bradley and Katie Grant out on the floor and everybody scoring down to the last possession,” Quinnipiac head coach Tricia Fabbri said.
Quinnipiac wants to have fun and it is especially fun when everyone on the team is able to score in a game because not everyone is able to play 20 plus minutes a game. Grant and Bradley average under four minutes per game.
“It makes it fun for everyone,” Carly Fabbri said. “For a freshman in (Danelle) Bradley and Katie Grant to get out there and score, I think it makes it fun for everyone.”
The Quinnipiac bench often explodes with excitement when Bradley and Grant score because their teammates know the hard work that they are putting in and it is this type of attitude that has made Quinnipiac so successful.
“(Bacchini) had so much pressure on her making that last shot, the players were all calling the play, to get here the ball,” Tricia Fabbri said. “It’s that care, that love and teammate, and for each other.”
Every player on the Quinnipiac roster is putting in a lot of time to get better and the Bobcats are happy to see their teammates scoring because they know all the time that each other are putting in.
“They’re working just as hard as we are. Obviously, we get a little more playing time, so when people get to score off the bench, it’s fun, it makes it exciting and we’re always happy for them,” Carly Fabbri said.
Although Quinnipiac beat Monmouth easily, their players are happy that all of their teammates were able to contribute to the win. The Bobcats will most likely use the gold rush once again during their MAAC Semifinal matchup against the winner of the Fairfield and Rider game on Sunday morning at 11 a.m.
