After a rocky end to a shortened season, the ECAC Hockey world is eager to start again. In a world of unknowns, the hockey season is no different. ECAC Hockey has yet to release an official schedule for the 2020-2021 Season. With the shocking season cancellation from the Ivy League, many fans were concerned about the possibility of a hockey season. However, ECAC Hockey announced that they still plan to put on an electric season in a safe way.
“ECAC Hockey is committed to conducting a season in 2020-2021 with those institutions that are able to play,” ECAC Hockey announced on twitter.
Let’s get into what we can expect for the 2020-2021 season.
The Quinnipiac women’s hockey team announced that senior Olivia Konigson was named captain with seniors Brooke Bonsteel, Grace Markey, and Laura Lundblad as assistant captains. The four are hoping to lead the Bobcats to victory this season.
After losing Abbie Ives this past year, the Bobcats looked to find someone to fill her spot. Junior Logan Angers, Sophomore Allie Kelley, and first-year bwill step up to the net for the Bobcats this season. In the 2019-20 season, Angers started in four games at the net and finished the year with a .940 save percentage. Angers also posted back-to-back shutouts in her first two starts on the ice.
Some key players to watch this season include Renee Saltness and Lexie Adzija. Saltness had a breakout year with Quinnipiac last season. Saltness recorded a career high nine points with four goals and five assists in the 37 games she played with the Bobcats.
Over the last year, Adzija led the Bobcats in scoring, posting a career high of 29 points including 11 goals and 18 assists. Adzija also tallied eight multi-point games.
With playoff season cut short, the Bobcats look to make another playoff run this coming season. There are some big skates to fill in the goalie department, but the Bobcats are ready to step up to the line and take on the 2020-21 hockey season.
