The Quinnipiac women’s basketball team defeated the Merrimack Warriors 76-44 to lock in the No. 2 seed in the MAAC.
Four different Bobcats scored in double digits, led by freshman guard Gal Raviv with 23 points. Sophomore center Anna Foley added 13, while senior guard Jackie Grisdale and senior forward Grace LaBarge each contributed 10 in the blowout victory.
The Bobcats held the Warriors to single-digit scoring in both the first and second quarters, allowing just nine points in the first and six in the second. Quinnipiac shot 15-31 from the field in the first half, with 22 points coming in the paint, helping them build a commanding 37-15 lead at halftime.
“A bunch of games so far, we’ve, you know, gotten a good lead and not been able to find it. Last time we played this team, we were up at half by double digits, and then they came back in the game, and it was a two-point game,” Foley said, “It’s March now—you can’t take any game lightly. We have to learn how to win, win by a lot, and be consistent.”
The Bobcats carried that momentum into the third quarter, opening with a three-pointer from Raviv. She scored 10 of Quinnipiac’s 21 points in the quarter and has now recorded double digits in five consecutive games.
Quinnipiac dominated inside, outscoring Merrimack 34-16 in the paint while shooting 50% from the field overall. The Bobcats aggressively attacked the rim, drawing 14 free throw attempts and converting nine.
The bench also made an impact, with Emma Lizotte, Paige Girardi, and Ava Sollenne contributing key buckets for the Bobcats.
Quinnipiac maintained control in the fourth quarter, leading 15-6 until the 4:26 mark and continuing its defensive dominance.
“I said a couple weeks ago, our best days are ahead of us, and I think we have ourselves playing at a really high level,” head coach Tricia Fabbri said. “It’s just where you want to be, what you want to be doing, and how you want to be executing this time of the year—taking care of business and not letting other teams hang around.”
This win improves the Bobcats to 16-2 in the MAAC and 24-3 overall. Quinnipiac will travel to Mount St. Mary’s for an epic rematch on Thursday, March 6. The last time these two teams met, the game went into overtime, with the Bobcats falling 69-64 on Jan. 18.
