It wasn’t the most impressive weekend by any stretch of the imagination last week for the Quinnipiac Bobcats, but two wins in ECAC play is all that matters.

Another conference win will be on the table on Tuesday night.

The Bobcats wrap up a three game homestand Tuesday night when they take on the Brown Bears at the People’s United Center for a 7pm puck drop. The Bobcats will then embark on a four-game road trip starting this Friday at St. Lawrence.

The Bobcats come into the matchup fresh off a weekend sweep against RPI and Union while also putting themselves in a position to lock up a first-round bye in the ECAC Playoffs. Both wins came from the stellar goaltending of Yaniv Perets and great defense by the Bobcats.

While Brown may be struggling in the ECAC this year, past games have shown the Bobcats that the Bears are not a team to take lightly.

Brown has won three of the last four matchups in Hamden against the Bobcats, including the 2019 ECAC Playoffs, and four of the last five matchups have been decided by one goal. Speaking of winning by one goal, that was how the first matchup of the season between the two programs was decided.

Sophomore Nick Bochen’s power play goal at 6:13 of the third period broke a scoreless tie and allowed Quinnipiac to escape Brown with a 1-0 victory back on Nov. 6 in Providence. The Bobcats defense limited Brown to only 12 shots, all of which were stopped by Perets.

Quinnipiac will have to turn the page on last weekend quickly and get their offense in tune. The Bobcats only scored three goals last weekend despite picking up two wins.

It’s imperative that the Bobcats get their power play going as well. Despite picking up a goal on the man advantage thanks to Wyatt Bongiovanni against Union, the Bobcats are converting 14% of their power plays this season and went a combined 1 of 6 on the man advantage last weekend.

The Bobcats and the Bears will face-off at the People’s United Center at 7pm this Tuesday night.
