The Fairfield University Stags will travel to Quinnipiac University on Feb. 3 for a men’s basketball rivalry matchup. This game will take place at M&T Bank Arena in Hamden, Connecticut. and is scheduled to tip off at 7:00 p.m. EST.

This rivalry is over a decade long with the Bobcats leading with 12 wins and seven losses. The last time these two teams faced off was just under a year ago on Feb. 9, 2022, where the Quinnipiac Bobcats beat Fairfield by just nine points. The Bobcats are currently on a two-game win streak against the Stags, and the question is: Can they make it three?

Quinnipiac secured a 72-66 win over Marist on Jan. 31 to get back into the win column and are hoping to continue it against the Stags. The Bobcats currently stand fourth in the conference with a record of 7-4 (16-6 overall). They have only lost twice at home this season and hope to keep it that way with a win over Fairfield.

Fairfield; however, hopes to hand Quinnipiac their third loss at home this season. The Stags are not far behind in the conference standings as they are tied for fifth with a record of 6-5 (10-11 overall).

Fairfield is on a hot streak right now winning four of their last five games, and hope to extend that streak to five. That loss out of the five was against Rider and the game went to overtime; however, one of those wins was against the leader of the MAAC Conference standings, Siena College.

The only injury for this game is on the Stags and it is senior guard Brycen Goodine. He suffered a knee injury back on Jan. 14 and will be out for the rest of the season.

One player to look out for on Fairfield is junior forward Supreme Cook. Cook averages 13.1 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. He has started every game for the Stags this season and averages just over 25 minutes per game.

On the Quinnipiac side, be sure to look out for junior guard Dezi Jones who averages 11.9 points and 3.8 assists per game. In the previous game against Marist College, Jones was just one assist away from recording a double-double, which exemplifies how much he brings to this team.

Unlike other games this season, this game will be broadcasted on live television on ESPNU. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EST. Be sure to tune in for this rivalry matchup, and see if the Stags put an end to the Bobcats’ win streak or if Quinnipiac can make it three-in-a-row against Fairfield.
